Hope Lutheran Church
... called by God to open our arms to the world and bring the unchurched to Christ. God is also calling us to grow in faith and grow in numbers as we serve all of God's people in Jesus' name.
Ministry Connections

Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good servants of God's various gifts of grace. Anyone who SPEAKS should speak words from God. Anyone who SERVES should serve with the strength God gives so that in everything God will be praised through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 4:10-11(NCV)

Adult Education
The objective of our Adult Education Ministry follows Hope Lutheran Church's vision and mission statements by assisting adults in deepening their personal relationships with God and their families through Christian education. To that end, we have accepted the challenge of lifelong learning within the Church, encouraging spiritual and personal growth.
Hope is a ChristCare congregation - a church of small groups rather than a church with small groups. Small Group ministry plays a vital role in bringing care, friendship, and closeness to the people of God. Hope's focus on the ChristCare model includes four pillars for small groups: prayer and worship, Biblical equipping, fellowship, and a mission focus. In effect, the ChristCare small group becomes a home church or a ministry group that keeps Jesus in the center of all activities. Through our various adult Bible-study and learning programs we are equipping people to recognize and to use their gifts in addition to challenging them to participate in the mission and ministry of the gospel. Current learning opportunities include in-depth Bible-study courses, workshops on prayer and spiritual gifts, and various small group studies - many of which are coordinated with sermon topics and children/youth activities.
Altar Guild
Altar Guild assistants are responsible for setting the altar with the prepared communion bread, wine/grape juice chalices, and communion linens before the start of a communion service. They also set up the Baptismal Font for baptisms. Two assistants are needed for each communion service.
Capital Appeal Team
Shaped for the Journey is the capital appeal beginning in the Fall 2006. There are many different types of service available including phone calling, special event assistance, and administrative tasks.

Drama Ministry
While listed under Worship & Music, our Drama Ministry is also one of our outreach ministry teams and has been successfully used as an enhancement for worship. Drama helps the Gospel come alive. Hope has had a continuing Drama Ministry since the early 1990s. Recent spring Broadway musicals have included Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, The Sound of Music, and The Wizard of Oz. More than 100 people, from children to seniors have participated in each of our spring musicals. Hunger Ministry
Hope's Hunger Ministry seeks to raise congregational awareness of the need for their involvement, commitment, and advocacy in issues related to local and global hunger, poverty, and social injustice. An important aspect of this ministry is our Food Pantry. Hope's food pantry provides food in emergency situations for members and those in need in our community. The food pantry is usually in operation during church office hours.
Men's Ministry
Hope's Men's group is great way to meet and fellowship with other Christian men. Our Men's Breakfast group meets the second Saturday of each month for a great meal and short Bible study. The Annual Men's Grill Out is held in the summer and is a great opportunity for men of all ages to become better acquainted and enjoy one another. Opportunities to serve include trips to Luther Glen and Camp Yolijwa to help with maintenance and repair of our Lutheran retreat and camp facilities. Small groups for men are also available.
Missions Ministry
Missions Ministry is defined as ministry beyond our local congregation and community. Our goal is to use our gifts and resources to advance the Kingdom of Christ beyond our congregation, to have a thriving Missions Ministry supporting needs of missionaries and mission organizations around the world, and fostering a culture where members of Hope are encouraged to experience missions to the level they feel called.

Passing on Faith
Research has shown that faith formed through personal, trusted relationships, often, but not always, in our own homes. Therefore, Hope is working to become a "Child in Our Hands" congregation, partnering with the congregation and family, striving to help parents and other adults seek ways to nurture the faith in children. Hope offers several opportunities and resources to bring the generations together around the Four Keys of Nurturing the Faith. These four keys are: Caring Conversations, Family Devotions, Family Service, and Rituals & Traditions. Opportunities include: Family ADVENTure - held just prior to or on the first Sunday of Advent; Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner - held on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday; Together in Faith - classes for children and adults centered around the basics of our Christian faith, i.e.: prayer, forgiveness, the Bible, the Apostle's Creed, etc.; Third Grade Bible Class - for third graders and their parents; First Communion Class - for fifth graders and their parents; Family Care Groups; Family Mission Trips.

PowerZone (6-8 Grade Confirmation)
Confirmation is a core value in Lutheran churches. The mission is to teach our young adults, grades 6-8, the basics of the Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective. The youth in this age group also participate in a variety of activities for fun, fellowship, and service. Retreats are offered during each school year to provide intensive opportunities for spiritual growth, group building and service to our community. We teach our young people to serve those in need and work for social justice. A summer outdoor recreation trip is planned each year to help our young people appreciate and experience up close, God's amazing creation.
Prayer and Praise Service
Every month, on the first Tuesday, the church invites everyone to our Prayer and Praise Service at 6:00 PM. As the people of God gather for worship and prayers we know God's presence abides with us through the Holy Spirit. The monthly Prayer and Praise Service is led by a Pastor and members of the Prayer Ministry Team and offers a time for praise and thanksgiving, a time for group prayer and a time for individual prayer. This uplifting prayer and praise service is open to everyone.
Prayer Chain
Hope has an extensive prayer chain that is ready to pray at a moment's notice. The prayer chain works through the dedication of some committed Christians who give unselfishly of themselves. The objective of the chain is to get as many people praying for someone as soon as possible. The prayer chain begins with a prayer request call to the church office, 951-676-6262. The office calls a prayer chain leader and then the request is called to over thirty prayer chain members.
Prayer Ministry Team
Hope's Prayer Ministry Team's responsibility is to pray before, during and after the worship services and particularly to pray for individuals after each service. After every worship service, the Prayer Ministry Team members invite individuals to come for prayer...prayer for their loved ones or for themselves. The Prayer Ministry Team members are caring, loving people who have been trained to pray with individuals. Confidentially is a top priority with the Prayer Ministry Team. It's important for those being prayed for to know that their prayer requests will remain confidential.
Prime Timers Senior Ministry
Hope's monthly Prime Timers events provide a venue for fellowship and education for our members and friends age 50 and over. Luncheon is included and can be potluck, catered, or provided by one or more members of the group. Volunteers may assist with meals, cleanup, or as discussion group leaders.
Transformers (High School Youth)
Growing in faith and serving Christ by serving others is at the heart of Hope's high school youth program. Our mission is to walk alongside youth in their faith journey and challenging them to a greater maturity in their walk with Christ. This is accomplished by weekly bible study and many activities and outings. Adventures may include whitewater rafting, waterparks, and mentoring younger youth. Our high school youth also spend a week answering the question, "Who is my neighbor?" They spend a week building and cleaning, and serving those in need in Ensenada, Mexico. Lives are changed on both sides of the border.
Ushering
Ushers are responsible for handing out worship bulletins, finding seating when necessary, collecting offerings, and releasing rows for communion. Six ushers are needed for each service.
Vacation Bible School
Each day children four years through 5th grade enjoy songs, games, crafts, Bible study, worship, theater, and snacks that focus on the day's lesson. Many volunteers are needed each summer to provide these children a memorable experience.
Welcome Center
Do you enjoy meeting people? Would you like to be welcoming and helpful? Help staff the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings!
Women's Ministry
This ministry coordinates the activities and programs that empower women to act boldly in their faith. Hope's unit of the churchwide organization Women of the ELCA offers many ways for women to be involved. There are daytime and evening "circle" bible studies using the Lutheran Woman Today magazine study. Our Mom's Morning Fellowship weekly group encourages attendance by women with small children and provides an opportunity for study and fellowship. Hope's ChristCare small groups also include women's groups who meet to combine activities such as sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief or scrapbooking with fellowship and fun. Some of the events supported by the Women's Ministry include the Fall Boutique, Ladies' Candlelight Communion Service, Women's Fall Retreat, and the Spring One-Day Refresher.
